Kopi Money Series Pt 3: Lumi Health

Back with another Kopi Lui article for all those who chase deals and ideas to make some small change in your free time. So today's article is focusing on LUMI Health. This was started by HPB in collaboration with Apple to kind of 'gamify' exercising or encouraging exercise and health-related activities. I thought this was a step up from the 'Steps Challenge' (pun very much intended). So I will be running through my review of this gamification effort on health and exercise related activities. As mentioned in my earlier Kopi Lui posts, this is not a get rich quick scheme, but more of using everyday pockets of time to generate some money.

Basically, LumiHealth works only with Apple Watch. Your daily activities recorded via your Apple Watch earns you points to reach various checkpoints in a given chapter. At each checkpoint, you are given coins which can be used to redeem various rewards. Currently, I'm at Chapter 9 and you can see how many coins I have accumulated below.

Each ring you close on your Apple Watch gives you 100 points. When you reach the weekly goal (as shown in the picture above), you are rewarded with 8000 points. This weekly goal helps move Lumi along the chapters.

Additionally, there are various challenges available for you to complete. These are health related challenges. For example, the one shown above encourages the user to reduce salt intake and choose better food options. When you do this/check-in with this activity 3 times, you will earn a total of 2300 points.

So in my Lumi Health 'adventure' the past couple of months, I have earned a total of 25,950 points which translates to approximately $86 dollars worth of rewards. I like it that the developer indicated the monetary value of the points I have. Next we will take a look at the rewards available for redemption.

For the full and latest list of reward options, you can refer here.

Overall, I think the Lumi Health app is a really good attempt at gamifying and encouraging health and fitness for everybody. The various challenges and information provided are up-to-date. The graphics and design of the user interface is also clean and easy to use.

If any reader has the Apple Watch but have not started on Lumi Health, I highly recommend you give it a shot *not a sponsored post*
Through simple, everyday healthy actions, you can earn rewards of up to $380 over two years. Click HERE so we can both earn bonus points! *WIN-WIN*

StashAway Report April 2021

Wow, it is already May!? Been seeing a lot of 'Sell in May and go away' memes recently. How much truth is there in these, I am not so sure, you tell me! Nevertheless, April was eventful and there is a lot to be thankful for. Even though COVID-19 seems to be flashing its fangs again with some 'active clusters' appearing, I am hopeful that we can overcome this eventually. Just grateful that everyone at home is safe and sound. Hopefully, you guys have been doing well too and staying safe!

We have diligently continued our DCA strategy with StashAway as it continues to provide us with better returns than just parking this money in our savings account. We have also been DIY on some US ETFs and counters but I will update that in another post some other time. StashAway continues to have decent returns for us albeit unrealised as we have not cashed out anything.

I have been using StashAway since 2017 but the contribution has been on and off then. More recently, we have made it a critical component of our portfolio as it provides us exposure to the overseas market. We have 5 portfolios across 2 accounts as we like to set different goals with different timelines.

Statement as of 30 Apr 2021:

Our portfolio thus far is valued at $17,411.18. Hopefully, our StashAway portfolio remains in the green and continues performing.

If you are interested in getting started with StashAway, you can check out my link here to sign up. We both get up to $10,000 SGD managed for free for 6 months. Win-win!

Share with me your thoughts and comments on if you have robo-advisors as part of your portfolio! Stay safe everyone!

StashAway Report Mar 2021

I think time finds its way to pass really quickly. It’s already April and that means the first quarter of 2021 is officially over. The Mrs and I took a timely break to recharge in March and we are charging ahead in April. Have been using some of my free time to plan out what to write and what might be helpful or interesting to readers. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see, drop me a comment!

Statement as of 31 Mar 2021:

Our portfolio thus far is valued at $16,301.23. I suspect that there might be some downward movement in the US market.

Kopi Money Series Part 2: Toluna

Cryptic coffee and notebook photo.

Back with another post on ‘How to make Kopi Money’. It seems that the previous article on Milieu Surveys was quite popular. I hope I can make this into a mini-series and give you all tips and tricks to make such kopi lui. As I said in my earlier post, participating in these will not make you extremely rich and it is most definitely not a get-rich-quick scheme.

Today’s post will be on Toluna. This website/app is similar to Milieu in the sense that it is a survey platform. By completing surveys, you receive points that can then be used to exchange for different types of rewards.

I personally use Toluna as well but not as frequently as compared to Milieu. I would say it is easier to reach the rewards threshold on Toluna as the points payout per survey is typically quite high. On average, you should be able to redeem some form of reward upon completing 6-8 surveys. The downside to Toluna is that their surveys can be quite long and after completing a certain percentage of a survey you may be found unsuitable or not the target demographic, which can be a little discouraging. But this is all part of the ‘game’ and you just got to be a little persistent sometimes.

Nevertheless, I think if you have some time to spare, Toluna is able to serve its purpose of exchanging your free time for some kopi lui.

In similar fashion, I have included some of the rewards that are available for redemption. My personal ‘favorites’ are PayPal and the Takashimaya vouchers *no expiry woohoo!*

If any of you are interested, you can use the link here to register for an account.

Let me know if you enjoy such content and I will try and see what other tips and tricks I can share with you all!

Share with me your thoughts and comments on if you have used such survey platforms! Stay safe everyone!

How I Earn Some Kopi Money

Ang moh way of depicting Kopi Lui (money)

This post is not about a get-rich quick scheme. Instead, it is actually quite the opposite. I have been using Milieu Surveys for around 6 months now and it is a simple way to accumulate some kopi lui in your free time. Simply do the (almost) daily surveys to get the points required. The reason why I prefer Milieu to other platforms is that the platform is easy to use and I usually don't waste 5 minutes filling up some biometric form only to find out that I am not the target audience they are looking for. Surveys on Milieu typically can be completed within 5mins or less. The downside is that you need to be patient to accumulate enough points to exchange for your rewards.

Simple and fuss-free User interface. When there is a survey, a notification is usually sent. I just check the app in my pockets of time to see if there are any updates.

Upon accumulating a certain number of points, you get rewarded in tiers for points boost. So, quicker accumulation for everyone!

There are many different types of rewards available for redemption. For those feeling altruistic, there are a few charities that you can donate to through the app. For myself, I have just redeemed $20 CASH from 18,000pts through PayNow. It takes a few days for the reward to be credited to you. But hey, I am not complaining.

This isn't a sponsored post (*Milieu if you see this, hit me up idm*). I decided to share this as some people may have pockets of time here and there that they can utilise to earn some money. Like I said earlier, this is not going to make you rich. But it sure beats being idle.

Download the Milieu Surveys mobile app:
App Store here - https://apple.co/2MmnprL
Google PlayStore here - https://goo.gl/eTHTya

When you sign up key in the referral code REgCwGS. This way you get an additional 500 points after completing 7 surveys.

StashAway Report Feb 2021

Been abit lazy updating this section of StashAway reports the past couple of months as some other things and activities were prioritized. However, I'm back in the swing of things and looking forward to the opportunities in the year ahead.

We continued our DCA strategy with StashAway and have not stopped despite my lack of updates the last few months. StashAway has provided us with some solid returns amidst all the uncertainty in the backdrop of the global pandemic and other global happenings.*Not sponsored but if StashAway is interested, hit us up!*

I have been using StashAway since 2017 but the contribution has been on and off then. More recently, we have made it a critical component of our portfolio as it provides us exposure to the overseas market. We have 5 portfolios across 2 accounts as we like to set different goals with different timelines.

Statement as of 28 Feb 2021:

Our portfolio thus far is valued at $15,343.53. Downward movement likely due to the correction experienced in many markets.

If you are interested in getting started with StashAway, you can check out my link here to sign up. We both get up to $10,000 SGD managed for free for 6 months. Win-win!

Numismatics and Silver Stacking

Thought I'd share on something less financially serious but more of a hobby. In recent years, I got interested in collecting coins, silver, gold and currency notes. Most people would associate this with what the older generation folks used to do or are still doing.

Numismatics is the study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money and related objects. Nowadays, whenever I receive my change, I would take a second glance to check for error notes/coins as well as special serial numbers. When silver/gold coins are minted in limited quantities, I would also look to get them and send them for grading by a third-party coin-grading service such as NGC or PCGS. The highest grade that a coin/note can receive is 70 which states that it is Gem Uncirculated and there are no flaws that can be seen under x5 magnification.

For me, the act/hobby of collecting and accumulating precious metal coins and currency notes serves as a type of hedge. One is liquidity and I am able to use the notes for their face value. Two, silver and gold often serves as a hedge against inflation and they are a store a value, though they do not pay out/generate income.

If you are interested to see the items I have for sale, you can take a look at my listings here! There are other collectibles apart from coins and notes.

If you are a fellow silverbug/silver stacker, check out our merch store here! There might be something you are interested in!

PSA, if you missed out last year, Google Pay will give you $3 cashback after your first transaction. Use it to transfer money to your family and friends weekly to earn more! Click here to get started!

Let me know your thoughts and comments on numismatics and such hobbies!
